Pope Leo XIV Calls for End to Ukraine War Escalation

Pope Leo XIV on Sunday condemned the escalation of the war in Ukraine and called for “for the weapons to fall silent and for the path of dialogue to be followed”.

The Pope made the call after a mass outside Angola's capital Luanda, which was attended by around 100 thousand people.

The first American pope also hailed the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which ended fighting between Israeli forces and Iran-backed Hezbollah, as “a reason for hope”.
