US Navy Warns of Unclear Mine Threat in Strait of Hormuz

The US Navy has warned that the threat from naval mines in parts of the Strait of Hormuz is not fully understood, advising ships to consider avoiding the affected area.

The warning comes amid conflicting signals over security in the waterway. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the strait had reopened following the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

It was not immediately clear whether the US advisory was issued before or after Tehran’s announcement. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes.
