Zelensky: We have not yet reached a compromise on territories

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine will be technically ready to join the European Union in 2027. As he stated in a statement released by his office on Friday, the key reforms necessary for membership should be implemented by the end of this year.

He also stressed that Ukraine needs a clear timetable for integration and that accelerated entry into the EU is an important part of security guarantees after the end of the war with Russia.

The president also commented on the next round of talks between Ukraine and Russia on ending the war, which are being mediated by the US. They were originally scheduled to take place on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, but according to him, the date and location may change.

"It is very important for us that everyone we have agreed with attends the meeting, because everyone is expecting feedback," he noted.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that President Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will not attend the weekend talks. Zelensky also added that the changes may be related to developments in relations between the US and Iran.

He did not fail to mention that no compromise on territorial issues has been reached yet. However, he mentioned that Russia has stopped prisoner exchanges.

He also stated that a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow is not possible. A few days ago, the Kremlin confirmed the president's readiness to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart, who would be provided with personal protection.
