Venezuelan airspace to be opened, Trump confirms

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that, following talks with Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodríguez, he plans to open Venezuelan airspace.

Trump also said that major US oil companies are to travel to the country to explore investment opportunities. The oil-rich country is trying to regain the trust of its foreign partners following political changes.

The US president also declared that his administration would work across party lines to prevent a partial government shutdown.

Negotiations on the financing of immigration measures are continuing.
