Macron Calls for Full Reopening of Strait of Hormuz

French President Emmanuel Macron has stressed the need to restore full navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas supplies, as soon as possible.

The situation has escalated following the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran, which has severely restricted shipping in the region. Macron said the aim is to ensure freedom of navigation without charges and gradually stabilize the markets.

Meanwhile, fears of energy shortages are growing. The head of TotalEnergies warned that if the blockade lasts for several months, the world could face a serious shortage of raw materials, as around a fifth of global supplies pass through the strait.

Several countries are ready to join the international mission to protect shipping. At the same time, Macron warned that geopolitical uncertainty itself increases the risk of a crisis, with the conflict affecting the whole world.
