Third Arson Attack Against Jewish Community in London
British police are investigating another arson attack on a synagogue in north London, part of a series of incidents targeting the Jewish community. The fire at the Kenton United synagogue occurred shortly after midnight and caused no major damage. It is the third such attack in less than a week.
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis warned that intimidation of the Jewish community is escalating. Police said a flammable substance had been thrown into the building and increased security in the area, including the deployment of armed patrols.
Officers also recorded an attempted arson attack on business premises in recent days and arrested suspects in a separate case. They cordoned off an area near the Israeli embassy following reports of a possible threat, which were not confirmed.
A pro-Iranian group claimed responsibility for several incidents and said it was behind attacks on Jewish, Israeli and American targets in Europe. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “This is abhorrent and it will not be tolerated. Attacks on our Jewish community are attacks on Britain.”
