"Delusion of Omnipotence": Pope Criticizes Iran War

Pope Leo XIV criticized what he called a "delusion of omnipotence" fuelling the US-Israel war in Iran and urged political leaders to end the fighting and negotiate peace, according to AP.

The pontiff led evening prayer in St. Peter’s Basilica as the United States and Iran began direct talks in Pakistan under a fragile ceasefire. He did not mention the United States, Israel or President Donald Trump by name.

AP reported that the first US-born pope warned against the glorification of power and wealth and called for diplomacy to replace the logic of war. His remarks came as negotiations resumed alongside continued tensions in the region.
