Islamabad Talks Continue, Hormuz Dispute

The third round of talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad will take place "tonight or tomorrow", according to a source cited by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

The agency’s correspondent in Islamabad reported that one phase of the direct talks had ended. Expert teams from the Iranian and US delegations, which held several hours of discussions during the day, are now exchanging written proposals following the conclusion of face-to-face meetings.

According to a source cited by the agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Iranian and US delegations held in-person expert talks in Islamabad. They then moved to exchanging draft texts to establish a common negotiating framework. The source said the American side was slowing progress with recurring excessive demands.

The Strait of Hormuz is among the issues on which serious disagreements remain.

Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), cited by Reuters, said the third round of Iran-US talks would take place on Saturday evening.
