Meta unveils new AI model
Meta has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model, Muse Spark, described as the first outcome of an ambitious internal effort to develop so-called ‘superintelligence’. The move comes amid mounting pressure on technology companies to demonstrate returns on their vast investments in AI.
According to the company, Muse Spark is designed to be both fast and efficient, capable of handling increasingly complex tasks, including those in scientific research and healthcare.
For now, the model will be available primarily through the Meta AI app, though it is expected to gradually replace the firm’s Llama models across services such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
The emphasis is on practical, everyday applications, ranging from estimating calorie intake from a photograph of a meal to planning holidays with the help of multiple AI agents. Meta argues that such features will boost user engagement and strengthen its competitive position.
