Vance: Trump growing impatient over pace of Iran talks

US President Donald Trump is pushing for faster progress in negotiations with Iran and is becoming increasingly impatient, Vice President JD Vance has said.

Speaking during a visit to Hungary, Vance said Washington had instructed its negotiators to engage in good faith and seek an agreement to bring the recent conflict to an end. However, he warned that the outcome would depend on Tehran’s approach, adding that while some elements of the Iranian leadership were negotiating constructively, others were hindering progress.

He described the situation as a fragile truce. The United States and Iran have reportedly agreed to a two-week ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, aimed at halting a six-week conflict that has caused thousands of casualties and disrupted global energy supplies.

Trump announced the agreement shortly before the expiry of an ultimatum in which he had threatened Iran with severe consequences if it did not restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
