Zelenskyy offers ceasefire if energy attacks stop

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that Ukraine is ready to agree to a ceasefire with Russia if Moscow stops attacks on energy infrastructure. The proposal, he said, was conveyed to the Russian side through the United States.

‘If Russia stops attacking our energy sector, we are ready to respond in the same way,’ Zelenskyy said. He stressed that negotiations with the US on security guarantees are ongoing and are key to achieving lasting peace.

Ukraine proposed a similar ceasefire last week during Orthodox Easter. However, after further Russian attacks, Kyiv said Moscow responded by deploying Shahed drones.

Russia has received the proposal cautiously and has long pushed for a more comprehensive peace deal.
