O'Hara, also known as Kevin's mother from Home Alone, has died

Actress Catherine O'Hara, best known as Kevin's mother in the Home Alone films, has died at the age of 71. Her death on Friday was confirmed by her manager to Variety magazine. According to the CAA agency, she succumbed to illness after a short illness.

O'Hara began her career in the Canadian improvisational group Second City, from which she moved on to the television series Second City Television.

After her success on television, she also made a name for herself in film, with notable roles in After Hours, Beetlejuice (1988), and especially as Kate McCallister in the first two Home Alone films, where she played the mother of the main character, Kevin.

Over the course of five decades, the actress has built a respected career in both comedy and drama. Her distinctive delivery, wit, and natural sense of humor have earned her the recognition of critics and audiences alike.
